My tach is not acting properly. When I turn the key on the tach goes to zero.Upon starting the needle will go around the dial until it aims 180 degrees. It then goes back counter clockwise until it reaches 4500 rpm. This is what it registers at idle. as you accelerate it goes past 6000 rpm.So it appears to work but it is sevaral 1000 rpm off.I assume this is probably the tach filter. When I went to Auto Zone they could not find it and said they have never heard of that unit.Is it known by another name or is there someone else who would have it for sale?

www.RodneyDickman.com is where you can find it. I believe the test for determining whether or not that is your problem is to jumper wires connected to it and see if it still reads high, if so then the filter is not the primary problem.
