Hello, I have an 86 2m4 (4 cyl). A few months back my clutch pedal was not pushing the clutch lever enough to get the car in gear so I put a piece of metal (1/4 - 1/2 inch extra length) b/w the slave cyl rod and the clutch lever and that made the lever move enough to get the car in gear. Well, I forgot I had done this and drove the care from PA to Voorhees NJ where I work and the piece of metal came off. Ofcourse the car won't get into gear so I put another piece of the same size as before but the clutch lever moves about 1/2 inch or so and car won't get into gear. A new thing I noticed now is the clutch pedal is soft but I don't see any fluid leaking from the master or the slave cylinders. I'm stuck at work and I'm really trying to save towing the car 40 miles which could end up real expensive. Any ideas or suggestions as to what could be wrong???? Thanks.
Steve D from Ridley PA.

Well, I think the problem has been resolved (for now!!!). I bled the hydrolic system from the slave cylinder, even though there was no signs of leaks anywhere. Now the pedal feels normal and I can get it into gear. I cannot explain why that happened but that's how things go sometimes I guess. My pedal looks pretty bent and that is why I had to extend the rod of the slave cylinder to conpensate. I will have to get me a replacement pedal soon. Hopefully this will help someone in the future!

There are about a billion threads here on hydraulic issues on the Fiero clutch. The system is not very robust and it's prone to leakage. Sometimes it's obvious, other times it's not.
Bleeding will buy you some time, but eventually you are going to need to replace the slave cylinder or the master cylinder or both.
