I am considering buying an 2.8-3.4 Longblock stroker engine from ARI Racing Engines in Grandview, Mo. Has anyone actually bought and installed one in their ride? I like the idea of keeping the stock look engine compartment. Budget allowing I am also considering long tube headers from West Coast Fiero tieing into existing stock muffler and pipes. I will be getting the 125 tranny rebuilt while the engine is out and a number of new parts like motor mount and starter. This amounts to about $7,000 Canadian before the dust settles, since I am needing professional service on the work (beyond my capabilities). This 88GT is looking good, but has 120k and is in need of freshening. Good thing it's a hobby, because there's no way I can justify the expense of this, other than being something I really enjoy.
I know there's a bunch of more popular engine swaps, that could be done, cheaper, more hp., etc. I read the forums. I also know that I can get a 3.1 stroker built from my existing 2.8 locally for about the same amount of cash (and that would be my second choice, for a number of reasons).
Thanks for ur help.

If I remember correctly, the ARI people take a 2.8 block, bore the hell out of it, and throw in a 3.1 crank to yield 3.4 liters of displacement. When they do this, the cylinder walls end up being very thin, almost at the limit of safety.
It is my understanding that they don't offer the 2.8 to 3.4 stroker as a kit and that it is only done in-house. Probably because this is at the extreme end for tolerances. Personally I would just go with an actual 3.4 block which will be just about as easy as installing a stroked 2.8.

get the 3.4 camaro motor .rodney dickman makes a starter relocate kit that makes that job easy .the newer 3.4 engine has a much better oiling system than the 2.8 and all your 2.8 stuff bolts on .
Aside from buying a crate engine 3.4L from somebody else who DOESN'T start out with a 2.8L block, the preferred way of creating a pushrod 3.4L Fiero still is to start out with one, and more specifically, with the 1993 to 1995 Camaro or Firebird 3.4L block.
The block from the 1993 to 1995 3.4L Camaro/Firebirds was designed by GM purposely to be able to accommodate a 3.4L engine in the first place; the 2.8L block wasn't. Yours should be a relatively trouble-free project, provided you start out with the right 3.4L.
I have a 2006 3,5 9k mile motor with auto trans and axles+ brakes all wires+cpu 200hp stock no it doesNOT look like a 2,8 but way cheaper lighter and more power too harder swap as wireing is required but no tuneing needed as a hotrodded 3.4 will need to run right 1000 usa plus shiping still way under 7k can

Look at Orief's build threads. Orief did two 3.4's one carb'd and the other EFI.
From what I have read, you can get the GM Bowtie v6 block for about $3500 Cdn, and from there you have maybe another $1,000 in parts to make some good hp.
Look at posts by FrancisT. He makes the Trueleo intake which is not too pricey for the Fiero and would work well on your plan. If you want a stock look (plenum) you will not get the hp the equipment can deliver.
The 2.8 block has an inferior oiling system for the bottom end, that was rectified in the 3.4 casting. A 3.4 block is the only way to build a reliable 3.4 motor.

One more vote for a "real" 3.4. I had to make that same decision a few years ago (ARI was one of the contenders) and I opted for a Grooms rebuilt. You'll be way ahead of the game if you buy a used motor and do it yourself, if you know how.
One bit of advice that I'll offer... If you opt for the 3.4 from a 93-95 F-body, try to find one that came from an automatic transmission car. I think that it will be a little bit less likely to have been beaten to death. Just MHO.

I spoke with the ARI people last summer. They informed me that the 3.4 V6 stroker was no longer a 2.8 punched max with a 3.1 crank. The unit now sold in its place was a 3.4 V6 orignial block with the Fiero starter holes drilled. I would recommend that you call and speak with them yourself. If the information given to me is correct, this would be the way to go for a 3.4 V-6.
