ok heres my problem ive had this car for 4 years and over the yrs its gotten harder and harder to shift into 5th and almost impossible ot go into reverse so is hte linkage bad or is there an adjust ment

You can adjust it, yes. I'm not sure how it's done on a 5 speed, but there's a way.
But that might not be your problem. Does it shift easily into 5th/reverse while the engine isn't running? If so, the problem is your clutch hydraulics not fully releasing the clutch.

I installed new cables in the 87gt, It now shifts so easy it's a joy to drive again. I was having the same problem, going into 5th and reverse. If your cables are original, I would think about swapping them out.

ya its defintly not the clutch because the problem is the same on or off and i actually had that problem with the clutch with 1st gear when i first installed it probably was the clutch cylinder i would of assumed

The cables were purchased by the previous owner, not sure from where. He never installed them. I had to do it when I purchased the car from him. I don't know about adjustments, leave that one for someone who has done it.

alright thanks i looked on the fiero store and there adjustments were right at the end of hte cable so i guess ill take a look but i would assume i need new ones any ways thanks for the help now any one for suggestions of where to get would help thanks

Rodney Dickman sells the cables, and they're quite well made. You might also try draining the transmission oil and filling it with Synchromesh. That should make the shifts a bit smoother.

ok jax ill try that where the adjustment though isnt it near the end of the linkage by the tranny
