I have a 1985 2.8L V6. I am in need of a Harmonic Balancer and would prefer to get a new one at my local parts store. There is no listing for this part in their computer. Does a Balancer for a 2.5L Firebird engine or any other engine work? The store said they have listings for most other models except the Fiero. Also a friend has a Balancer from a 89 Beretta 2.8L that he would just give to me. Would this work? I am aware of the part that can be ordered from the Fiero Store, but it the free Beretta one is the same part I will just use that one.

The balancer from any 60* V-6 will work, however, the timing mark must be indexed with precision for use with the Fiero as the timing mark is on the reverse side for the application.

The harmonic balancer on all 60* V-6 pushrod engines will interchange, BUT The Fiero is the only one that has the timing marks scribed and the timing scale for the left side of the engine, all others use right side timing scale and marks. This means you can use another balancer from another car (with a 60* V-6) but you will need to scribe the new timing marks on it to match the Fiero timing scale.
