Is this going to hurt something?
It idles high and I know its not the perfect solution, but I race tomorrow and it seems to run strong!
(I put in my factory chip backwards and killed it)

It is running it "limp home mode". There is a back-up prom that will take over when there are problems with the main prom or sensors. The back-up prom can ru the engine without input from most of the sensors...... but much less efficiently of course.

Second the "limp home" mode.

I had a chip that was temperature sensitive. As soon as I had to sit still during hot weather, the chip would shut down.

The Check Engine light would start flashing quickly, and it went into limp home mode. Idled at ~1200 RPM, and felt like it was running with no spark advance, and was also very rich.
It felt like the power was down about 20-25% (SWAG)

Forget the race, the "Cal Pak" is not meant to help you race, just get you home. I know you now know this, but the chip carrier notch goes to the left. Ed
