building a kit and need to know if anyone knows the perticulars on condenser units. trying to keep as close to the same location as poss and would be slick if I can downsize. What can I switch to, to decrease size. I see some trucks have about 12- 15" square w fan(dodge ram). Can i use them or do I have to be concerned with capacities and volume because of low/ high pressure?. Has anyone done this? Thanks All- Ron

Just to clarify, you are talking about the AC condenser coil and not the radiator right? If you are talking about the AC coil you can't just change it to a smaller size, it will affect the capacity of the system, plus the unit was designed to work with a certain condenser coil size, changing it will affect its performance.

It seems going to a newer, more efficient condenser made for R134a would be Ok. Whether this is bigger or smaller does not matter as long as you fill the system with the proper amount of R134a for this new configuration. The condenser changes the hot high pressure gas to a high pressure liquid state. As long as the condenser does its job you are Ok. My daughter's Del Sol has a tiny little condenser and that car is ice cold.
