i need to get the pistons out of a 3.1 firebird. i found a couple of low mile recks in the junk yard but cant tell the difference between the 3.1 and 2.8. the only difference i see is that the egr is different. one has a vacume one the other electrical. so does anyone know the differences just by looking at the engine.

check the 10 th digit on the vin on the dash that is the year code . 2.8 stopped around 88-89 then they were 3.1 also the emission label under the hood or on the radiator support will tell the engine size.
