Hey gang,

All my cars are old, and one of the most annoying things is to get out of your car and not have the
seat belt retract. Does anyone know a way to fix this? All of my cars have this problem.
The Fiero was pretty good, but it's getting worse. Is there anything to spray in there?
Can I take it apart and do someting to it? I want this thing to snap back like a whip when I unbuckle it.

Any help would be appriciated,

Darren

First you have to take the plastic side cover (I forget the correct name) off. The seat beat will be under it, basically just check if the actual belt is becoming tangled at a certain point. I know my car had this problem and once I fixed it the belt retracted back perfectly and if you want, you can spray WD-40 to lubercate the mechanism. But mostly likely your belts are becoming tangled.

They aren't doing that. They are going in really straight when I hand feed them back in, so maybe the wd-40 will work. I was hoping to find a way to maybe tighten the winding mechanism of it. I will try the WD-40 and see.

Any other thoughts?

Any more ideas on the winding mechanism?
