In contrast to the title (senior moment) I can't get my clutch master cylinder cap of my '88. Any suggestions? Any attempt to turn it hard enough is threatening to bend/sever the antirotation feature on the fluid reservoir.I need to fix it without damage/teeth marks etc. This is my <10K mile car. The clutch is great and visually the fluid is fine but I just can't get it to budge.

Edited to fix brain fart!

You have a twist off brake reservoir cover? All mine have only had four tabs you pull up to release the cap. Are you trying to open the clutch reservoir?

Sorry, you're exactly right! It's the clutch master cylinder.

Doc's changing my blood pressure medicine and this has been a rough week.

In that case this might not be the best time to be working on your near-new Fiero. Rest up some first.

Probably good advice! That's one reason I was soliciting advice so that I don't screw something up. It was stuck last summer too. My dad's got a couple of rubber strap wrenches at his place, I might try those. They've proved useless of many other occasions though.

This afternoon was really nice so I got it out and wiped it down and drove it for a few miles to warm it up.

Thanks!

When you do try and take it off, perhaps try using two rags, wrapping one on reservoir itself, and one on the cap. You may have an easier time of holding the reservoir still and be able to apply more force to the cap without hurting your hand. Just be careful you don't hold the reservoir too hard and twist or wrench it.
