on the gt model ( 86 ) when i took off the rear trunk lid there were 3 screws on each side 2 10mm and in the center 2 torques head non tampering style screws. i heard a pop when i took them off and now it does not want to line up correctly. i know these screws were for the spring to hold up the lid when you open it up how can i reload it back.

Sounds like you undid those nontamper screws and let the torson bars release (a no, no). Dont know an easy way to get them back in, someone here will likely tell you what to do. Our 87GT had one broken torson bar I just put a gas strut on the lid instead. Since we moved the wongs on our 86 and 87GTs aft 3" (they look much better that way) we had to add a gas strut the 86 to compensate for the new wing location. Just mentioned that because if youre going to also move your, you may simply want to go with gas strut instead.

Oh boy someone else that took out one to many bolts.

I'd pull the pins that hold the springs on the bottom of the hinges and let them go forward to take some of the tension off.

Bolt the top end back on the hood, and then pull the springs back and put the pins back in the holes.

This post should help from our friend Buddycraigg.

There must have been something different with mine. I did the same thing the first time I removed the hatch. All I did was pivot the hinge until it almost lined up and forced the spring with a piece of wood the rest of the way. It was relatively easy.
