I'm looking for a "cheap" upgrade for the summer wheels. I think that 16" on a daily driver is enough (max. 17") so I thought about using the GTZ rims. Since they came colored does anyone know if the burgundy red color is about the same like on our Fieros. Or should I take the black ones? Any suggestions on the tire size? Thanks Patrik
I put a set of GTZ's on a repainted dark blue / green 88 notchy. Three of them were black and the other was red. I chemically stripped the red powder coating off and painted it with an engine high temp low gloss paint. It turned out pretty close to the others. I am using 205/55/16 (just a no name brand all season tire). Black rims on a red car is a good combination. Only thing with red is that is seems to fade at different rates. Look at the top of the page with the red GT and black rims as an example. Vern

i went with 215x50 on my gtz rims....mine are white...but i sanded down the 5 spokes to polish up the aluminum underneath and i left the rest the color they were painted...so when i have the car painted i will either have these rims chromed or i may just have the ousides painted the same color to match the car and repolish up the spokes to stand out....tim..

I have a set of black GTZ wheels on my '88GT. I love them. Fronts are 205/55-16 and rears are 225/50-16 and that combo fits very wheel on a lowered '88.

I run 225/50/16 tires on those rims, I imagine the size I have on there in the video is really close to that, but those are just some random junkyard tires on there at the time.

Ok, just checked with a local dealer, he wants $320.- for four used ones. don't know witch condition they are. For the size I think 205/55 for the front is alright and some 225/50 back would look good i think.
Actually I have to photoshop them on my car. Don't know if the black ones look good on my dark red (or burgundy red) car with silver lower trim.

They are 7" wide. I've got some early 90s grand am 16s that I am putting some summer tires on for my car, and those are some pretty easy to find wheels. I'd like to get some gtz wheels though just because I like the 5-spoke style better.

Swiss, I like them, but of course I have them. I would recommend if you do it, paint them the same color as your ground effects, that way they look like part of the car. Im not sure the black is the best with that color combo.
They strip easy, and powdercoat or paint them the same gray and they would look great.

I use 16" Beretta wheels on my 88, but I had to put a 1/2" spacer in the rear (longer studs!) and 1/4" spacer in front to keep the center to center track width to factory specs. Less tire scrub and longer tread life. Did not measure for earlier years, probably different though.

Good choice, same wheels we used on the wife's 88. We used the same 225\50\16 on the rear and 205\50\16 on the front.
She wanted something different than the usual spoke type wheels you see so much lately. Said she wanted something with a swirl pattern. I saw these wheels on a car in the junkyard and showed her, she fell in love with them. We ground the Chevrolet bowtie down flat, filled the area, and painted the center caps, put Pegasus stickers on them and clear coated. Turned out pretty good.
