Ok I have an 88 manual that will most likely become an automatic. Are the parts
interchangeable from earlier years Fiero's or do I have to get them from another 88
to make the swap

Thanks
Keith

Anything, and I mean anything is possible! As long as the tranmission has the same bolt pattern it will bolt on, so any auto from a Fiero will work just fine. You will need to get a computer and wiring harness from an auto car though, and the linkage and shifter. It's really not that hard, not that I've done it, but after my 3.4 DOHC swap I see how easy it would be.

I personally would look into getting an electronic shift point automatic that come in newer cars. I've heard that they drive increadably smoother and are a much better tranny over their non electronic counterparts. Look for an E on the end of the tranny call number and look up some of the threads here to find out what it will take. Otherwise: Auto - wiring harness and computer - shifter cables - shifter - oh and new pedals

He may or may not be able to help you with most of the items you need.

I want to do just the opposite- what Trans do You have and what about the pedal, linkage shifter ect......and what ever else is needed.? and anything on my car you can use is yours. I have to say thought not sure if what i have besides brackets and shifter will help you cuz mines a 86 2M4. 125 trans3spd. let me know on your goods if you want to sell. I not to sure on a lot of this Im just starting a kit car and seem to be learning new stuff every minute. so as far as computers and the like if anyone can shed some light on how we do this it would be appreciated...Thanks Ron

Sorry I forgot to mention the 2.8 is out and a 3800sc is in the process of being rebuilt to go in
that is why I am converting it. So latter this year I will be getting rid of the 2.8 and 5 speed
getrag. It is chipped, has a comp cam and roller rockers, a spec stage 2 with about 3k since
install and the motor has about a total of 52k miles on

To each his own, but they would have to pull that getrag out of my cold dead hands,

since you are going 3800 just leave it bolted to whatever auto tranny it's probably already bolted to.
