Ok here's the deal. I'm buying some Autometer electrical gauges for my car. A speedo and tach. My question is how do I need to hook up the Speedo to make it work. I'm running the 4t65e-hd with it and I forget the wiring that needs to be done for it to work. Also do I need to purchase the speedo sender that Autometer has on Summit's website?? Right now neither my speedo or tach works, so I'm wanting to make sure it gets hooked up correctly with the new stuff. If anyone can explain how it is done for both the speedo and tach and what wires I will need to work and splice to get them properly working would be awesome. Btw, both the speedo and tach has worked before so I know they work fine, but I am also wanting a new setup with a 160mph speedo. Let me know guys.

Thanks,
Amir

Don't know about Autometer but I was running a VDO speedo and tach for awhile in my car. The inputs for both units came from the PCM . The VDO speedo had instructions for hooking up the speedo for different types of inputs. The tach did give me some trouble because the VDO tach needed a 12V signal and the PCM puts out a 5V signal . TK from this forum whipped up a little circuit (transistor and some resistors ) for me and that worked just fine. But in order to get my cruise to work I had to use the wiring in the PCM rather than the Fiero module.

In all my swaps using the 4T65E or 4T60E I run the speed sensor yellow and purple wires to the PCM. Then take the VSS out put wire from the PCM to C203 yellow wire which feeds the speedo. The purple wire at the C203 gets put to ground. There is a small buffer circuit neeeded that can either be made up at the C203 or at the speedometer connector below the gauges. The buffer is just two resistors, a capacitor and a diode. There is a diagram of it on the fieroaddiction site or at least there was at one point will see if it is still there. Dan
