Just punch out the freeze plugs and install your thermostat housing. Install a new freeze plug on the other side where the S-10 thermostat housing used to be. The best 2.5 heads are from 1990-1993. You will also need the correct intake manifold.... the fiero intake will not bolt onto the newer style S-10 head.....but everything else will. The Fiero push rods will be to short and must be replaced.

No.... the S-10 pushrods will not work. They are also too short. 90-93 S-10 heads on an older block (Like the Fiero) require longer push rods.

Check with an automotive machine shop about the valve sizes. A friend of mine who owned a machine shop said he took in a Fiero engine to be rebuilt, because they couldn't find out why it ran so oddly. Turned out it had an S10 head on one side and a Fiero head on the other. Different size valves. The S10 are smaller. Don't breathe as well.

I just wouldn't recommend putting 1 S10 head on it. Valve sizes on both heads should match.
