Some time ago, I came across a PDF guide that described how to convert to power windows. It was a great guide, and I cant seem to find it again. Does anyone know where its at?
Thanks,
Mike

I tried that...I have done this conversion on two cars, I would not recommend it. Others have done it, but it takes a lot of time to line up the door and the outer panel. Frankly, it was quicker to just swap the inside pieces. It is really that easy. Once you do one door, the second one goes quickly.

my IMSA started life as an 88 base coupe, so I installed PW on it. it's quite easy to do, but I did discover the hard way that there are more than one style of wire harness over the years. I used an 85 PW setup and had to modify some connectors and do some "creative" wireing etc. you'll be well advised to get the same year stuff as the car it's going on to make life easier for you.

Well, I found a guy that will sell me the full door for 20$. so for 40$ i get all of them So should i get them? I was also wondering something. The remote keyless entry thing on your page, do i need to have the stock fiero power locks to make those work? What i think would be really cool would be to totally get rid of the door handles. Then, when i press a button, the door would pop open. Is that what your page is describing with the remote keyless door entry thingie?
thanks!

No, that's not what he is describing.
What he is describing is keyless entry, where you hit a button on a remote and it unlocks your power door locks for you.
What you are looking for is a shaved door handle kit w/remote entry. shown here
hope this helps.

So if i got that kit that fieroluv posted, Would i still need to have the stock power locks?
Also, What would it take to just use the doors that already have the power windows? Im not sure i understand why it wouldnt be easier to just bolt them on..... Regardless, both doors for 40$ is a good deal, right?

no, you don't need stock door locks. In fact with that kit you don't even need door locks at all. You can just remove all your lock hardware, rods and everything. There is no need for locks if you don't have any door handles or lock cylinders in the door.

I followed this guide and it worked like a charm. It did take a while to do the first one, but the second door took about an hour.

Does anyone have any experince with shaving the door handles and using remote keyless entry? Is this a hard thing to do? What happens if the battery goes dead? And finally, does anyone have any other kits and experinices with them? Please let me know! This is somthing im seriusly considering doing, and im looking for as much info as possible.
And still, no one has said if 40$ for 2 electric window doors is a good deal!

If you get the wiring, switches and regulators... then yup, that is a good deal. The wiring you need will come in three pieces... each door will have some wiring and the main harness in the car. I would recommend installing power locks if you are going to do this. Not much more work when you are this far in. As for shaved handles. I don't mind opening the door with a handle

I have installed them before. They are fairly simple to install. It's no harder than installing power locks in a non power lock door. Basically it's just installing a small solenoid that pulls the door latch when you hit the button. However I have never installed them on a Fiero. The only part I would be worried about on the Fiero is what to fill the door handle hole with. Being plastic there isn't much that will bond to it.
If the battery goes dead, included with most of the kits is a manual release cable that you hide somewhere (usually in the trunk), some kits has it as an option and is not included.
There are several vendors out there that sell them, the link I posted was just an example of what you need to accomplish this. Most auto accessory supply chains sell these. I know J.C. Whitney used to, but I don't know if they still do or not.

yes, you would still have the handles on the inside, however you could eliminate those as well if you wanted too. You would just need to install a button on the inside somewhere to activate the solenoid to open the door.

Well, as long as your not inside the vehicle with the doors shut and eliminated inside door handles you would be ok. Like I said in a previous post they usually come with an emergency cable attached to the latch that you would pull to open the door.
