I have a 86 GT fastback with a worn bench seat cloth on the drivers side , the sides a dark gray vinyl. I have a set of light gray side seat cloths that I was going to put in instead of the dark gray. Is there a way to dye the light gray to have it match the dark gray. Thanks Lynn

Lynn,

Try Ritt dye, you can get it at wallmart in the detergent section. You can decide how dark or light you want it to turn out by how long you dye it. I tried dying seatbelts with it, but the nylon wouldn't hold the color, but we also tested cloth and the results were pretty amazing. Give it a try.

Remember that the fabric is 20 + years old and may not hold up well with vigorous agitation.

Google the folks at Clarion dyes in N.C. ask for the chemist/s there. Tell them what you have in mind, they`ll send you a free sample kit of just about as many dyes that you want--try to stay with the project at hand when speaking with them about the process, they are a world of knowledge. It helps some if you say your in xxx business (xxx fill in name) and looking into possiblitys for future projects.
p.s. their not the hair people...lol..
