On my '85 when I turn on the key, the fan automatically starts. Could this be the relay? Which relay is the one. By the drivers side headlight there are three relays, is one of them the one?

It could be the relay, it could be the fan switch on the engine or it could be the wiring in between. Try unplugging the fan switch at the engine to see if it turns off. If it does, it's the switch. If it doesn't, it's the relay or the wiring between the two.

Yep, check your heater A/C control and push the OFF button. Then try your key. The fan should not come on. While the key is ON, push any one of the A/C button and the fan should come ON.
Yes, the fan relay is near the driver's side headlight; the other 2 relays are for the headlight system. Maybe someone else will chime inl sorry but I don't know how to tell the difference in the three. (maybe the fan relay has a green wire with a white stripe going to it (?)
What PaulJK was saying, near the thermo neck there is a single lead wire (green/wht/stripe) that will go strait to your fan/rad switch located in/on the lower intake, take the black connector off the top, use a seperate wire , install that wire into the black connector, then ground it, then turn the key on, if the fan starts running--assuming your a/c and defrost are turned off--then you need a new fan/rad switch . http://info.rockauto.com/Ai...tail.html?1S4341.jpg http://www.rockauto.com/cat...249040,parttype,4312

Did you do the 3800 swap ? If not who ever did the swap probally jumped the fan to run constant, I have mine wired that way, look up in the front trunk near or at the base the hood strut for the green wire being grounded out. When its gounded like that you have key on, key off operation of the fan.
