I will be upgrading to a 4t60 tranny with my 3.4 swap and was thinking, If I get a 4t60e I could have that "tunable transmission" if there was a transmission controller you can switch between "economy" and "sport" settings on shift points.
Does anyone make an aftermarket controller for e Transmissions or will support the 4t60e? I am assuming that the controllers simply control shift at rpm+speed points.

Yeah. TCI and Compushift make controllers for that trans. Check them out and see what you find. GM actually mentions them in their build-up of that trans.
but cant find a dealer with a price (if you have to ask you cant afford it?) I'm waiting on a quote. EDIT: oops website shows $700.00 + harness. Still waiting on a quote from them though for more info.
If I can get a controller for cheap (Less than $800.00), that opens up a huge amount of trannies that we can use in our cars with the stock 2.8 and swaps that fit to stock easily.

Can anyone tell me why these things cost so much? Like, I have made a home made A/F gauge for an S-10 I used to have. It cost me about $8 to make with parts from Radio Shack, but, have you seen the price of many out there?
I also made a O2 sim for the after cat O2 and used said sensor for my A/F gauge.
Edit: I know they have to be programmed, but, after you write it once, you can upload it to how many controllers a day?

Well, first they have overhead to pay for, and unlike your personal endeavor, they must make a profit. I'm getting one of the PCS controllers for my 4T80E transaxle ... and hope to pick it up at their plant since they're only an hour's drive from here.

True, I see your point. But, I've seen the price of decent steel and a quality grade of aluminum and those ain't cheap. Also, I look for the cheapest way I can do something. Not much to spare for toys, you know? That, and I can hide the controllers or whatever it is.
