SO I FOUND AN ENGINE KIT ONLINE AND EVEN ON HERE ITS A 2.3L MOTOR FROM A BUICK SCX OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND A 442 FROM YEARS 91-93. IT SAYS IT HAS THE HIGHEST HP OUTPUT OF ANY OF CHEVY'S 4 CYLINDERS AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS MOTOR AND IF THEY HAD MODDED IT ANY FROM STOCK? BECAUSE AT THE PRICE FOR THE MOTOR AND THE FACT THAT ITS A FOUR CYLINDER AND I WANT GOOD GAS MILAGEAGE ARE VERY APPEALING.
SORRY FOR THE CAPS I DONT WANNA RE TYPE THIS CAUSE IM AT WORK.

THANKS,
RENEGADE

Good luck finding one. The W41 engine was a very rare option.

I actually found a site that has some on there and they are actually pretty cheap. but i was wondering too, that motor should bolt right up to my 4 speed manual tranny right? cause i like the four speed its fun. five speeds is for ricers haha not really but the four gears means i shift less and i like it.

No, the Quad 4 engines have a unique bellhousing bolt pattern. You have to use the transmission meant for that engine. Also, beware of any place selling engines cheap, you get what you pay for.

The qaud four actually isn't the highest output of any chevy 4cylinders anymore. The supercharged eco tech is.

the w-41 came out in 91 in the cutlass calais , it was meant for scca sedan racing. i thought only about ahundred were produced in 91. they were 190 hp 7400 prm redline ,they also had a lower final drive 3.94 :1 and 2nd or 3rd was also differnt than other getrags ratio's . 92 -93 it became an achieva scx , basically the same package but updated body. they also used a 215 60 r 14 tire which was also a little shorter than the other available tires and helped with the accel. a company called manta part used to with these engines and used to sell hop up parts.
