what a day , i went to go to work battery was dead . so i go and get a new one , hook it up and everything is fine but when i start it the car is running ruff and then i see smoke . i kill the motor and open the trunk . the first coil is melt and has made a blob of melted plastic on top of the coil . i have been driving this swap for about half a year .
do you think it was a bad coil or bad wiring ? i don't see any melted wires and none were hot when i touch them right after .

think i will get a set from the junkyard first and try with them before i put new ones in .

Unless it like touched on somthing very hot, there is really no way to melt a coil other than having it short internaly. If that happend it would just dead short all the time and probley heat the coil up to a high temperature.

Internal failures are not common, but they do happen and usually replacing the single coil works fine. you can use any coil no matter what numbers are on it.

I wouldnt mess with it anymore, it really is just a random thing to see coil failures.
