Hey guys (and gals),

It's me again. I just tried search for about half an hour and didn't find anything. How do I go about replacing my driver's side mirror? Do I need to take the outer body panel off. It's barely hanging there and I can see a hole where a bolt or something should be there. I'll put a picture out here when I go home for lunch.

Thanks.

The outer body panel stays on, but you'll need to pull the inner panel. Three screws hold on the arm rest and two screws hold on the door latch panel. If you have a manual mirror, use an allen key on the outside of the adjuster housing to take it off. Once you get all the hardware off from the inner door panel, there are a series of plastic retainers which can be popped off. There's a tool out there to minimize damage to these retainers so you can reuse them. I just use a set of wire strippers to straddle the retainers and give them an even pop out. The mirror has two studs to secure it to the door frame that are held on by 13mm nuts.

I used duct tape to hold the mirror in place since I didn't have an assistant. The duct tape came in handy to hold the nut in the wrench while I was getting it started on the threads.
Next time I will beg, borrow or steal a ratcheting wrench because of the tight fit, this will make life alot easier threading the nut on.
If your mirror got knocked off, you may need to chase the threads in the mirror's mount and use longer studs, my case I used a longer bolt as that was available at the auto parts store along with a washer.
A telescoping magnetic pick up tool came in handy as I was dropping nuts and bolts into the door, some fell out the bottom onto the ground. Can you tell that I've done this before?
Good luck, it's not difficult just tedious.

It's easyer to remove if you have a small curved wrench. If the nut falls, use a metal rod and magnet to fish it out of the bottom.
