This is a new one on me. I went to check my coolent for the winter and found a small amount of oil mixed in with the coolent in the coolent resivior. I checked to see if there was water mixed with the oil in the motor but I can't find any. How did the oil get mixed with the coolent. I thought if you had a blown head gasket you would have water mixed in with the oil. Any ideas fellow Fiero friends. Thanks in advance for everyones help.

It's possible to have one without the other. Also, I think the coolent would settle to the bottom of the oil pan if left to sit long enough. If so, you could have coolent in there without knowing it.

Remove the overflow tank and wash it out making sure you get all of the oil out of it and put it back in. Then just keep an eye on it. I had the same junk in my over flow tank and it didnt show back up after I cleaned it out.

Could also be sign that you have a leeking lower intake manifold gasket in that area oil which is sitting at around 50 PSI if leaking can get into coolant which is only sitting at around 16 PSI. Its a major problem for the newer 3100, 3400 and 3800's but have seen it before on older 2.8's. Dan
