I replaced the pass. door on my Fiero and have the old door gutted but I can't get the window glass out. Does it have to come off of the lower metal frame somehow....all the tracks and the riser are out.

Thanks,
Dragon1/Brian

If you have the door off the car I would just remove the outer door skin and it will come out the bottom once the tracks are all removed.

See my sig for removing the outer door skins.

Removing the outer door panel to remove the glass???? I've never been able to do that but again I have never tried it. Are you sure? I never found any room to do so. I've done it from the top by drilling out the big white bump stops where they are pop riveted in and taken it out the top. The local garage that does all of my Fiero work when I do not hane the time or patience just replaced mine the same way but you need a big pop rivet gun.

This is how I removed my glass.Remove the plastic torx bits or the edge of the door.Remove the side mirror (use a curved wrench).Remove door handle once door skin is loose.Remove door skin.Grind the rivet heads COMPLETELY OFF (alow to cool).Use a punch and jently tap the pins out (wear gloves).Remove glass (through the top). When reinstalling use bolts instead of rivots (Make sure you get the correct length of bolts or they could hang on something when the window is rolled up).

The shop tried to use bolts and over tightened them..... guess what happened then? Had to go fetch another window. Borrowed a big rivet gun to use instead of bolts which if you got the proper size would work but use some loc-tite to keep them from getting loose and scratching or breaking something.

I was getting ready to ask the same question. I have two doors off a parts car that have the windows in the up postion that make it impossible to get the mirrors off so I can get the door skins off. Drilling the rivits in the plastic bushings that hold the window in place, hadn't thought of that, but then I haven't put a lot of thought into it until now.

Thanks.
