Okay...I was racing last night at the local "track". I ran a wrx that the owner claims is pushing 14lbs of boost. The 1st run we both ease into it and then I hear his turbo spool so by time I react it was just too late he won. Next time he wants to go from a roll...pretty even launches, I win. Third race I win..no mercy. We end up at another light he asks, what motor I have...I reply a minivan motor. He replies I had one of those (fiero) and put a 3.4 in it. I said I have a 3.1, but left out the nitrous part. So now the light turns green I slam the gas and I forgot the nitrous swith was activated I torched him like no other, but my car now runs funny, like I have bad plugs, wires and rotor. As soon as I launched it started sputtering like I had a bad wire. I came home and checked the rotor and it is crusty on the leads, my wires were shitty before I even decided to race and I have only pulled one plug so far. On the way home I had to drop off my co-pilot and that is highway..so what I noticed on the highway is that If I got on it all seemed almost fine with a slight mis, but low rpms It would mis more and harder.
It feels like an ignition problem to me.

It idles fine and no air coming from my valve covers

My question is can nitrous cause these ignition symptoms?

A good dose of nitrous won't cause ignition problems by itsself, but it could very well have done some damage to the engine.
Well, I suppose it Could have accelerated the wear on the spark plugs... That's the cheapest thing to check.

I've never played with the stuff myself, so I'm having to think through the possible damage from nitrous. I suppose the biggest danger would be causing the mix to go way lean, which is a great way to cause detonation, overheating, etc. Not good for a head gasket, and not good for pistons, connecting rods, bearings, etc...
Getting any signs of a blown head gasket? Steam/water from the exhaust?

Probably you burned a plug. Check that first. Are you using a wet or dry kit?

My guess is you burnt a plug, my mustang has a wet kit on it, and a broken tranny. But before I put it back on the road I'm going to put in new spark plugs, one range colder...you might want to do the same.

Sounds like the engine is hesitating under a load. Could be internal engine damage, rings or pistons. Could create loss of compression in the cylinders.

I just changed the cap rotor and wires i will change the plugs as well asnd see what happens. It stumbles under load and it idles funny as well. Sounds like it is missing, but it isn't knocking or making any wierd noises. I hope it is the plugs. I do have 1 step colder but i may try 2 steps colder. It is an old nx wet kit.

Now that I think about it before the race I was on the highway and hit the juice and it would buck and jerk when I was in the higher rpms. I changed my WOT fuel pressure from like 44psi to 50ish. I'm wondering if I was running entirely too rich all night and that's why it just didn't hit as hard. I am going to change the plugs and pray that is the case.

"buck and jerk" -- sounds like detonation. (I know from experience.) You hope you are running rich.
