My 1987 fiero gt starts and then dies after 3 seconds.I have spark and fuel at the rails.I hear the fuel pump turn on when I turn the key.I have put gas in just in case the gauge is not working. It seems like it gets enough gas for the start and then gets cut off.I would appreciate any help at all.
Thanks

Welcome to the Forum Mike. It sounds like a problem I had at one time. It was starting off the cold start injector but the actual injectors were not feeding fuel to the engine. Some things to check. First and easiest is your fuses, there are 2 that control your injectors in the fuse panel. Second is to make sure your injector harness is plugged in securely and third, you should be able to hear the injectors clicking when you start the car. You may need a screw driver to listen to the click. Put one end on the injector and the other to your ear.

My bet is you have an injector problem of some kind.

mike, disconnect the coil wire that goes to the center of the distributor cap. crank the car for 20 seconds. then pull a spark plug, is it wet with gas? If yes, you have a timing issue, if not you have an injector issue.

I'll say the pickup coil in the dist.
If you want to test, disconnect the B wire from the dist. module (should be marked on the module, think it is the second from the left on the 4 pin). You might be able to remove the pin from the plug, but not sure since I have never done this test.

If your pickup is bad and you open the B line the engine is suppose to keep running and not die if the coil is bad..
