Best price on Synchromesh fluid is AutoZone - current online price is $6.49 per quart, it's usually less expensive at the stores.

Not to high jack the thread--anyone know the capacity on the 4 speed muncie? Haven` t driven it for months, after I get home from 2 hr drive --it leaked a 1/4 palm full of it on the floor? Was ok about 3-4 years ago when the clutch was put in, that was about 1000 miles if that--it doesn`t get driven as you can tell, only did this after the drive, wiped it off, no more drip--any ideas? Not sure when the fluid was lasted changed either by the previous owner..

Hi, I tried the Royal Purple stuff in my '88 GT. It shifted much worse than with factory GM syncromesh. I have since gone back to GM syncromesh and wouldn't use anything else in a Getrag trans.

3800superfast:

Muncie 4 speed is 5.9 pints, or almost 3 quarts. I did mine up with GM Syncromesh from the dealership. A little pricey, but it shifts much nicer now. You can check the level with the dipstick/speedo sensor gear if you're worried.

Edit: Going from memory since it's been a while. The guys at the parts counter at your local Pontiac dealer should be able to look it up for you to be certain. That's what I did so I would know how much to buy.
