My trip Odometer started acting up last weekend during a short trip. It stopped rolling in the tenths and on the 9 only clicking every tenth of a mile passed.
Anyone know of a good way to repair this? I am assuming I will have to pull the instrument cluster to get to it for repairs, any sources for parts or rebuild kits?
I like the trip meter as it's easier to reset after a fill-up and calculate gas mileage.

You may find an instrument cluster at a pick and pull junkyard. Buy the cluster, and just change out the trip odometer. I did that for my temp gauge.
BTW, my trip odometer does not always work after clearing it, it sometimes makes a crackly popping sound as I pass mile and then I press the button a couple more times and it works fine.
Also, does everyone elses trip odom, make a light click sound every mile. Mine always has.

The trip odometer is driven by a stepper motor, and the basic guts of it are a mechanical collection of wheels and gears. It's probably just worn out from decades of use.
I have a whole box full of these things, let me know if you need one. It's yours for the shipping cost.
Mine does this everyonce in a while. I fill up, hit the button to reset the trip. Pull out and notice its stuck on .9 miles and clicking every tenth of a mile. Hitting the button a couple of times usually straightens it out. Its just habit for me to hit the button 4 or 5 times to reset it now, usually don't have a problem after that. One of the, I will fix next time I have my cluster out.

The one post was my thought also. Mine has done that and pushing the reset button slowing and releasing corrects mine also. If I just punch it it usually sticks and clicks just like you stated.

Tim , take a look at this, it covers the speedo and odometer , not dealing with the trip meter , once you open it up --it starts to make sence. Go to: http://www.fieros.de/en/main.html then to Articales, then to speedometer operation explained ....

This is a fairly common problem with Fieros. First thing - there's a procedure for resetting the trip odometer. Do it with the car stationary, press the button and release it twice. If that doesn't work for you, then it's a problem in the speedometer head.
I've fixed a few of these. The reset button presses on a slider; the slides were lubricated at the factory, but at this late date the grease has gone rancid and dirt / dust has collected. If the button doesn't return all the way, the trip odometer will click and not advance. The corrective action is to remove the speedometer head, disassemble to get to the reset mechanism, then clean and relube the parts. That'll put the trip odometer back into good operating condition.
But remember the reset procedure; only when you're stopped, press the button twice.
