I was just wondering if possibly anybody has done this swap. Its the motor from the old turbo trans ams. I was just looking at them today...and noticed that they put out some pretty good numbers.

I havent done it personally, but I have heard of/seen guys who have. Easier to find a motor from a 86-87 Buick Grand National than a 89 TTA (only year TTA that got the lc2) and excepting minor differences like the headers (which you wont use anyways) its the same buick motor. Motors put out crazy horse power with light mods, but you'd need to beef up the tranny etc too. My advice, head over to www.turbobuick.com and drop in the hybrid section if its something you were really serious about, but I'll warn you, it pricey. A stock running used complete engine with harness and ecm usually runs $2k-2400 unless you want one to rebuild.... then you might get one complete for $1500-1800... The 86-87 (and 89 TTA) are intercooled and better than the 84-85 (non-ic) for power, but also cost about twice as much. Just food for thought for you. I have had regals and riviera's with that engine though - great for dependability

I'm sure many will say use the search because this has been beat to death. You will find this subject in the archives.

The reason that most don't do tjios swap is because the TTA and the GNX both have a BOP bolt pattern which doesn't fit the fiero tranny. The 3800sc is the the new block that is designed after the LC2. A turbo 3800 would be way sicker. Most will get a 3800sc and yank the sc then turbo it.
