As the subject line says, I'm trying to find the closest color match in the SEM spray can line to match the "dark gray" for interior plastic trim panels in my 87 GT.

I have a few scuffs and some discoloration that I'd like to cover as close to the original stock color as possible. The SEM line of vinyl / plastic paints looks like the best choice, but I'm stumped on which gray to order and don't want to have to get a color sample chart first.
Anyone know which one I should order??

Randy

Randy, last summer I completely redid the interior of my 86GT. After much hair pulling and teeth gnashing I chose SEM Presidio Gray. I also used their satin black, and my interior looks great. Basically I used all of their prep materials, such as sand free, vinyl prep, and clear coat. I have been very happy with the results.
I got this stuff off the web after checking locally and finding prices as high as 14.00 a can, and limited availability. Then I found this website and paid 8.00 a can so I decided to use all their materials. If you want I'll try to find that website again.

I finally found the website but the prices are somewhat higher than they were. I must have caught them during a sale. The site is YourAutoTrim.com check it out they have just about everything related to auto interiors you could ask for. I would have posted it as a link but I don't have a clue how to do it.

Thanks David!
So the "Presidio Gray" is a close match to stock dark gray then?
I previously ordered some SEM products from YOURAUTOTRIM.COM, but their price for the color spray cans was approx. $11-$12 per can. Not bad though as the cans are big enough to cover quite a bit.
I didn't order the "sand free", but did use their cleaner and vinyl prep, (after scrubbing the parts 2-3 times with detergent and water), then shot the satin black and the stuff looked good and seems very durable. Not like the old auto store spray cans where the stuff flakes off later. I'd still hesitate to shoot parts that come into constant body contact though, (such as arm rests etc.) even with SEM.
Just wondering why you used the clear coat though? The finish I got with just the satin black looks good as-is, I didn't want it glossy, just a nice vinyl / plastic sheen to it like stock, (new).

I tried to find some SEM color coat to match the stock dark grey but couldn't find any. I tried the graphite grey but still not dark enough. Your best bet may be to check with a local auto upholstry shop and have them custom mix the color you need and use a spray bottle.

Randye, I used the satin black on my dash cap and then used the satin clear coat as a top coat and, I guess, a wear surface. I live on a dirt road and am constantly wiping down the interior so I wanted a bit more durability. As for the Presidio gray, it is a very good match for the base gray used on the dash, armrest door panels etc. It is not however an EXACT match.
