Like the post says . Mine have a couple of dents and kinks in them . But I don't know what would pose a problem for cooling . It's not like their collapsed or crushed I'll try and post pics later .\

Thanks

I would say from personal experience that anything that reduces the diameter by more than 1/3 would be a problem for the V6 and anything more than 1/2 would be a problem for the 4Cyl.

Then something like 1/4 to 1/3 might be a problem with a sbc .

I would think that anything more than 1/4 of the way would start to hurt the cooling. Ive been looking for another set of coolant tubes in the yard and have only found ONE car out of probobly 15 that didnt have at least 1/4 to 1/2 blocked off with a bend. I would hardly doubt that all 14 of those cars had cooling problems.

It can take very little to cause a major blockage. See the pipes article in my cave.

A "simple" dent in the pipe isn't usually a problem unless it's fairly deep.

The problem is when you see a pipe dented/bent between the rear support bracket and the large bends heading up to the engine. Most often between the bracket and drain. What looks like a slight bend from the bottom frequently hides a major crimp on the top that can easily block half the diameter or more.

Thanks theogre . I've been having cooling problems and everything is in order ( fan working , no air in system , chin spoiler and air deflectors in place , 4 core radiator , new electric water pump etc. ) Then I looked in the cave and saw the pic of your cooling tube and decided to drop mine down and check them . My pass. side one has a dent up frt which closed my tube about 1/3 and down further theres a smaller one and then alittle further back before the bend going up to my water pump theres a kink . Driver's side is better just a slight kink in the rear right after the bend .
What's the difference between the 4 cly and 6 cly diameter ?
Thanks
