Hey guys...

Well, I had a new shingled roof put on my house a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, one of the bags of shingles fell off my roof in between inspections and it fell on my Fiero which I keep on the side of the house. It tore through my car cover and seriously damaged the paint on the front right fender of my car.

The roofer said their insurance would pay for it. However, I don't have time to take it to a shop, and it doesn't really run all that great. The paint is otherwise still pretty decent. I can't expect the guy to repaint my whole car, but I certainly don't deserve to have my paint messed up.

If anyone can give me a general idea of what I should expect, I'd appreciate it.

I'm looking for a general amount of what you think it would cost to have the right front fender completely re-painted and have the paint color matched. More than likely, what I'll do is take the money and put it aside for when I do have it repainted in a couple of years.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I would say about in the $3-400 range. Little more little less. Depends on how much they need to blend it.

I'm having the hood of my wife's HHR repainted due to a f^&*ing chunk of crap on the highway. That's little damage with paint and it's $450. Best part is we haven't even made our first payment on the dam thing yet!

Sorry to hear about your car---if its a solid color ex: like red/black/white all they have to do is paint the fender---if its a metalic color with (metal flake) they will have to paint/blend (probally) the right & left fenders--along with the hood and maybe just blend in the tops of the doors. ( To Match ) You may want to get a estimate from the body shop--just in case---keep in mind paint as well as everything else is going up & will cost more in a couple years when you get the work done...

Don't take this the wrong way, but you don't paint cars much, do you. The chances of getting a perfect match, even on the solid color, is near to none, unless you have some of the original paint left over from the previous paint job. You will still need to blend into the adjacent panels. The left fender won't need to be painted in either case.
Also, depending on exactly where the damage is on the fender, all the blending might be able to be done on the panel itself, not needing any blending into the other panels at all. Location of the damage make a big difference.

I just had the door and fender painted along with the aero rocker panel on my Silver 85. The guy I took it to matched it almost perfectly. You would have to look hard to tell it's been repainted. I paid him Cash....$350..

if you're painting your old fender figure about .5hrs at 40/hr to prep it

2 or so hrs to paint it at 40/hr

same 2 or so hours at 20/hr for paint and materials

.5hrs at 40/hr for tint time

15 for hazardous waste and all that other crap and probably about another 10 for flex additive

all in all 20o-250 for the just the fender seems right and then any blending will just take it up from there.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I really do want to get a quote, but my car just isn't in the condition where I would feel confident driving it to a shop. The suspension is totally shot. The only thing decent on it is the paint, motor, and interior.

So if I tell him to give me $350 bucks for the repair of my front fender, that would be reasonable?

Thanks!

I'd charge roughly $200 for just the fender. If you need to blend into the other panels, then of course it's going to be more. But, as mentioned, if the damage is not too close to an edge it's possible to have all of the blending done within the fender and not affect the other panels. If you can live with a little bit of a color difference, then just repaint the fender only no matter what and put the money towards the complete repaint.

If its still got OEM paint, see if someone has a matching fender and just replace it. Lisa got a fender for hers for free from someone on the forum. What color is it btw and is it the original or repaint at some time ? Shame your not close to me. Have any friends that work in a shop? If its just paint damage, shouldnt take over a few hours out the door.
