I just got a 3.4L from a 94 Firebird that's going into my Fiero.

I want to redo the top end on the 3.4 but I don't want to mess with the valve springs. Is there a cam/rocker combo that would impove performance but wouldn't require me to mess with the valve springs?

Ideally, I'd want to do the Crane 260 with 1.52 roller tip rockers, but I understand that I'd need new valve springs.

Not really.
The Crane 2030 would be OK, But it's gains are very small (if any).

Just buy the 260 cam and send the heads to a shop for porting and polishing. They will then install the correct springs for the new lift. On my 3.4L the cost was only $350 for both heads and I had a larger cam.

stronger valve springs are mostly to keep the valves from floating at high RPM's. If you are using a 3.4 with the Fiero intake setup, you will wont need to worry about high RPM's.

Is valve springs something that's doable in my garage, without pulling the heads? I know I can use an air comressor or a length or rope to hold the valves from falling into the cylinder, but I've heard of people having to grind the head down to get the desired travel distance for the valves. Is this something I'd need to worry about or are the valve springs that would go with the Crane 260 and 1.52 rockers simply stronger and don't need much extra travel?

I know there's some debate over the benefits of the 2030 cam, but would the 2030 require longer spring travel with 1.52 rockers?

I'm willing to replace stuff, but I'm just not comfortable pulling the heads or grinding them down and I don't think I can afford to have them rebuilt. I'm already pushing my budget by wanting to add a new cam and rockers and stuff.

I has the H260 with 1.52's and my valve train was very quiet. No issues and 149.8 rwhp. Stock Camaro springs.
