Where does the Positive battery cable go from the battery? I mean, it terminates somewhere right? I want to replace the old one as its the crimp on style...its not looking good and I know it would be better to have the totally enclosed type...theyve got them at autozone, but I dont know how long to get...Im hoping to find the end of it and put a whole new cable in...

The other end of it is connected to the starter motor, which is mounted near the base of the engine on the side which faces the passenger compartment.

the main (+) battery cable goes straight down to the starter. it also has a pigtail, for (+) to either the C500 connector or the fuseable link junction - cant remember which. but, the main part - down to the starter it goes.

The job is complete!....You have to jack up the car to get to the starter location. It was fairly straightforward and simple once i got to the cable...It is a PITA to get to...the oil filter is about 3 inches from the nut that holds the cable on...The catalytic converter is also in the way, as well as a heat shield...I worked around everything...I found that the nut on the starter cable was very loose...it only took a tiny bit of a turn to loosen it enough to unscrew it by hand the rest of the way...The cable is in a bracket near the battery to keep it from coming in contact with the pulleys and whatnot in the engine bay...I slid the cable through the bracket towards the ground so that finding the end of the cable would be much easier...Once i got the cable off, I found that there was a tab on the end that connects to the starter

Tab end of starter:

I was a bit worried that I would need a cable with the same tab on the end...I didnt find one like that at Autozone...But I did find a nice 2 gauge battery cable with pigtail to use:

I slid the battery terminal protector over the small end of the cable. I then fed the cable through the same bracket at the top of the engine bay to get the cable through the area properly. Once It was through, I reconnected the cable to the starter post using the old nut. After this it was pretty much straightforeward....I cut the old corroded wire away from the old pigtail that goes to the C500 connector:

Then stripped down to some bare wire, crimped into the new pigtail end to the battery, and reinstalled the battery terminals...

I reconnected the negative terminal..........

And she fired right up!...I guess the little tab wasnt important after all....Thanks for the help in locating the end of the cable...Maybe this little bitty write up will help someone change out their corroded positive wiring!

The tab is more like an indexing thing. Makes sure the cable is pointed the right direction, and keeps it from turning, as you tighten the nut on the starter down. As long as the new cable is not up against anything after you tightened it down, it will be good to go.

Thanks 3800..No problem...The length of the positive cable is 34 inches...I had choices of 4gauge wiring in 35, 40, and 45 inches...The 2 gauge wiring only had one length available, 45 inches...so thats the one I got...It fits okay...it leaves a little extra, which in my opinion is a good thing...
