Hi All,

I was hoping somebody would be able to help me with a small detail. I've done some searches but didn't find anything really relevant.

I have an 88 GT and I have some driver and passenger windows for an 86. Are they the same size? Can I put them in my 88 without any problems? Is it easy to replace the windows?

On a side note, what causes the scratches on the windows? I'm assuming something is doing it in the door when the windows are put up and down, but is there a common solution for this?

Thanks

The 86 and 88 should share the same windows. I believe they *all* do.
If there's an exception, it will likely be the 84. (This is not based on any kind of logic, other than that the 84 doors are a bit different.)

Are the windows being scratched on the inside or outside?
There are felt/fiber pads on the inside that can collect grit, and cause scratches.
In my case (an 88) there was a piece of hardware (maybe a track?) that was contacting the glass as it moved up and down.

All fiero glass is the same as far as fit. There are some small variations in tinting as the actual maker of the glass may have changed over time and slight variations from batch to match.

If the glass is scratched by hardware in the door, you need to repair/replace the bad parts or any new glass will start scratching pronto.

Excellent stuff, thanks guys. I'll go ahead with the change then. I figured while I have the windows out I might as well get them tinted a bit as it will be easier to do than when they are installed. Although I haven't decided yet..

Anyways, when I have the door apart I'll take a look at what could be scratching the window. It's on the outside. In fact I have 2 fieros and they both have the same scratch marks (I had one a long time ago too and it had the same marks.. I'm surprised it's not more common of a problem here on this forum)

I was able to adjust mine so that it didn't scrape any more. I forget what it was, though. Sorry.
But yeah... Fix whatever it was before you install the new glass.
