The one you use is based on the number stamped into the top of the OE one. If it is a V6 I have no idea. The L4 one for 87-88 is listed in my cave someplace. The emissions article I think.
On the universal ones... You MUST stake the washer into the valve. That means you put the washer in place and then smack the edge of the hole around it with a punch or corner of a chisel. You have to do this in at least 3 points to keep the washer tight in the body of the valve. (I usually do at least 5-6 places.)
If an OE matched valve is available anyplace... use it. Even if you have to call around and/or order it. I don't like universal ones but that's all you can get for some cars.
