A torque converter uses hydrolic pressure to form a mechanical link between 2 objects but still allow slippage

You can do the other one yourself, im not doing ALL your homework for you

The torque converter consists of three elements that are contained in a housing that is filled with fluid by the transmission pump. The vanes of the impeller (The driving force) pick up fluid in the converter housing and direct it toward the turbine. The turbine is the driven member who's vanes receive the oil flow from the impeller. When there is adequate flow, the turbine rotates to turn the transmission output shaft. The Stator is the reaction member whose vanes multiply force by redirecting fluid flow from the turbine back to the impeller.

The torque converter locks the impeller to the turbine.
