Re-attaching broken clips on a door panel?

When removing my door panels, the upper clips broke off the panel (top left/top right)
What should I re-attach them with, JB Weld or glue gun, or?

What will hold the best?

Buy new clips.... they are available thru MotorMite BodyTite! at many parts stores.

The lowest rear clip usually needs trimming. It will get hit by the window if left it's stock length.

You might have misunderstood me...... The metal clips that attach to the panel far top left, far top right
have come off of the panel with the plastic clip still in it.
For them to work again. they need to be attached to the panel again.

I know what you mean as most have mine have come off also. Try some seriously hardcore thick glue like PL500 or something like that.

Believe it or not, hot-glue! I thought - what the heck, worth a shot right? Works pretty darn good, I could hold the entire panel just by the one glued on bracket. Just dont skimp out on the amount of glue!

EDIT:
Make sure your remove the extra partical board thats still stuck in the little holes of the bracket.

I second that. At the factory that what we used to put the rug material on the side panels on the station wagon rear quarter panels. I worked at GM in Framingham, Mass. from 73 to 90

When mine came off. I used a drywall anchor (the plastic split kind) and a screw and trim washer to hold that corner of the door panel on...now it's easier to remove and it looks perfectly normal.

Oh....

That sort of damage is often caused by people that don't use a pannel lifter. Using a screwdriver isn't the same. The panel lifter has a split end like a small pry bar but more open to grab around the fastener. If you don't have one, get one to prevent it happening again. They aren't very expensive.

When using hot glue with metal... Get the metal nice and warm. Like over 100F. It gives the glue a chance to flow on the metal. Cold metal will instantly hardern the glue.

There are several kinds of hot glue. You probably should use the high melting temp stuff. The inside of a car can reach 160-180F fairly easily and that might be able to release the low melt temp glue.

JBWeld has a limited lifetime but do not ask me how I know. Hot glue gun works much better IMHO.

I would use hot glue as mentinoed above but go one step further...I would cut a piece of craft (cereal box material) that fits over the metal anchorhand slide it over the anchor after you glue it on creating a sandwich of the interior door skin, metal anchor, and the craft with hot glue in between.

Two words. Gorilla glue. Sets up like iron in a couple of hours..Every door panel I've ever removed pulls these off. Next time I take off one of those I've repaired, I'll let you know if those clips are still attached.
