Hi all,

I need to know a few things. First off my problem, I have 87GT Injectors are new and it acts like it is running on 4 cyl. Not a 4 cyl car... Now I have been round and round with the mechanics ( a few of them) and got a healthy education on eletrical and injection systems. from both speaking with a few engineers (eletrical) and a few tasco injector tech's.

How hard is it to replace my existing ocmputer and electrical harness? How much it is going to cost for those part so I can DIM!! Because it seems that 480 estimate to repair the existing harness is out of the question. I think I can do better. I need anyones input. because if I don't get it working GF is having me get rid of it. Yeah it is that bad. help

You can get everything you need from a junk yard for a few bucks or you can get it from a vendor like the Fiero Farm. I have an extra injector harness if you want to try that 1st. Make sure 1st of all that your current injector harness is plugged in to the correct injectors.

I would test before I started replacing. There is a 6 wire connector where the fuel injector harness connects to the engine harness, its on the right rear most of the engine, below the map sensor. I dont remember which ones are which, but they are in pairs, IE A&B go to 3 injectors, C&D go to the other 3, and E&F go to the cold start injector, I just dont remember where the CSI is, on A&B or E&F. ANYWAY, just unplug the injector harness, and using the engine side of it, put a multimeter across any pair of wires, and have someone crank the engine. you're not going to get any legible readings, but you're looking for something or nothing. check all 3 pairs, the CSI will only be on below a certain tempature, but Its always been on for me. So basicaly, if you have signals on all 3 pairs, your ECM and engine harness should be okay. Id check that first, because there can be a lot of things that cause those problems.
If that doesnt come up with anything, pull the injector rail, and if you're brave, hook it back up laying on the engine and crank, checking for spray from all injectors, be sure to unplug the coil!! otherwise it could start from fuel sitting in there, or a stray spark might ignite the gas spraying out. Anyway, try that, the gas will evaporate and as long as you dont have any open flames or hot spots, it shouldnt ignite. Might wanna cover the trunk so it doesnt get gas in there.
