Is the grey coupe seat material for the 86-87 the same as the 88 coupe material?
Thanks

There were two different grades of cloth seat fabric available in 87 "Ripple cloth" and "Pallex cloth" The ripple was dropped for 88 and only the Pallex was available.

Personally, I have never owned an 86 but according to the NIFE Enthusiast's Guide to the Pontiac Fiero, both cloths were available in 86 as well. The ripple cloth was standard in the coupe.

I could post some pictures if you need to see the difference. I have some ripple cloth covers out in the garage.

There are some other differences. Earlier seats had webbing in the seams around the base. 88 coupe seats had no webbing.
