GM parts direct says the 18019027 rear brake parts kit has been discontinued and they can't get it.

Does anyone know if by some chance there is a part number change for it? Can the folks with good dealer network contact please check this ASAP tomorow?

I really need to fix the rear calipers. Most rebuilts suck. I can get them thru Cardone but it's gonna be over $100 and I just don't have that right now. (Cardone is one of the few I'd trust for this part. Cardone also includes hardware that most others don't.)

Part number 18019027 has been discontinued by GM and we can no longer get the part.

Don, Thanks. I knew the number is what we've all been ordering... I'm hoping that maybe there is a newer number for the kit. GM is known to change numbers of things over time.

theogre I will check with the dealer here and see if they may have one. If you are really hurting, I can let you have mine but I would want to make sure I could get another one.

Don, thanks again. If you find a second kit let me know. I'll try the local dealers tomorow as well. If they can be found at all they are probably down to the last few in stock when we all dig around. After that we'll have to hope there are some competant rebuilders that aren't just reusing the FUBAR pistons that are in most of these things. I have good shells so the kit is my least expensive option.

I can drive the car for now but with cruddy pistons the things won't stay adjusted. I have to manually fart with them every couple months to keep the clearance correct. Even at that the hand brake doesn't work what points to other problems inside the pistons.

And before someone says anything about using a front caliper on the rear... Not interested not happening don't bother.

Better yet... Dan do you work for a dealer? Can you take plastic? Can you get a couple sets? I'd rather give money to just about anyone on the forums over other dealers. My 87 daily driver needs a set bad. I definitely need 1 set like right now. I'll take two depending on what price. The 86 I still haven't decided to part or not. It runs ok but it was wrecked at some point and the body left in the middle of a half assed custom job. It needs a bunch of work before it could be driven.

Ogre, I not sure exactly what the 18019027 kit contains, but have you checked the 'disc brake hardware kit' and the 'caliper repair kit' online at Rock Auto?
