Is it possible to make the headlights stop only partway up, so they are "sleepy eye" headlights, like what seems to be popular in drift cars and some imports? I think that it would look really cool on fieros, and it would get rid of the gap between the headlight cover and the hood when the lights are up

It would look like this

You would have to "kill" the power to the headlight motor when the motor is spinning up/

I am not aware of a kit for this.

Wonder how the drifters are doing that.

Well, i did some searching on some 240sx forums, and i came up with this, http://www.nissanforums.com/showthread.php?t=29708&highlight=sleepy+eyes
apparently what they do is cut the power to the headlight motors as they are going down, by splicing a toggle into the power wire that goes to the motors, could that be done to our cars to?

I also found this
http://www.nlmotoring.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4768
seems to be a headlight controller, i wonder if it could be used on Fieros...

YAY i got it

it was really simple, all you have to do is disconnect this plug

It sits right next to the headlight, and after the plug is disconnected turn the headlights off, the lights will turn off, but they wont go down.
After you turn off the lights just touch the 2 ends of the plug together to get the lights to the right height, each light has to be done individually.
I'm sure that I could splice a toggle into the wire, and do it from inside the car, but i dont have any toggle switches right now

im so happy it worked

(Edited to add that i figured it out)

your car looks drunk now! Isn't doing that going to be bad for the headlight motors?

I dont think it should hurt them much, it's pretty much the same concept that the 240sx guys use, and i havent seen any complaints on their forums about it wrecking their light motors.

Haha now that you mention it it does look kinda drunk lol, maybe up higher would look better, I'll go play with them a bit, its nicer outside now

here are some different styles

a little more angle

my car is retarded!!

almost asleep

and a shot of my poorly glassed decklid for good measure lol

You don't have to kill the power to the motor. The Fiero headlight motors use a torque switch. Once the light bottoms out it torques the motor and activates a switch that removes power from the motor. All you need to do is rig up a stop to make the motor open or close at the desired position.
I played with this but didn't really like the look. I thought it made my lights look like they had malfunctioned.
