Need some help on a 88 GT - stock engine.

I believe I have a narrowed down where I have a coolant leak: seems to be coming from a crimped type hose fitting near the firewall. There is a smaller heater hose coming from the lower part of the thermostat housing and it goes to a steel tube near the firewall. The question I have is how to replace or fix this? Is there a way to replace this fitting without damaging the metal tube? What is the best method. Ask me for specifics if you need to help me figure this out... Thanks in advance!

I would imagine your best bet would be to cut the metal off below the crimp and just run a piece of rubber hose to replace it all. Dunno how else you would do it without the proper crimping tools or a lot of money

If you do not drive the car in the winter months, then cap it off. Otherwise I would do like 86GT3.4DOHC said.

Use a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel to split the metal crimp collar (one cut lengthways). Then use a screwdriver to pry off the collar. May need a razor blade to split the old hose to remove it. There is a bubble flare on the metal pipe so you can use a regular heater hose clamp on the replacement hose.
