Hey guys, I just noticed the other day that I have cruise control, lol. But I noticed it's not working. None of my in-cab fuses are bad so that eliminates that. What else could be the cause of it? I need to know where to start checking stuff. I've never fooled with cruise control before.

First thing you want to do is verify all your vaccum hoses are good as well as the diaphram. From there, it could be the module, or other elect. parts.

Also try this link goto Articles and then Curse trouble shooting.

The most common cruise control ailments are broken wires on the turn signal stalk and the switches on the brake and clutch pedals. Mine had both problems when I bought it. Adjusting the pedal switches and replacing the stalk cured the problem. Replacing old vacuum lines is always a good idea as well.

The stalk can be removed by just grabbing it and pulling. You will be able to see the external cruise control wires. If they are pinched, or the insulation worn off, it should be replaced. The chinese knockoffs on eBay run about $25, and work just fine.

With the car off / key on, move the switch to the on position. Do you hear a click at the cruise servo?

if u hear that "click" as told, it comes from the left rear side of your car, than check out the cruise clutch pedal switch. go for a ride, make sure u have 45 mph, set the switch in the "on" position, with your left foot "pop up" the clutch pedal and move towards the slider from "on" to "r/a". u sould notice that the car accelerate. if it works, u have to adjust the cruise clutch pedal switch.

Had a similar problem with my 86GT. Went through the troubleshooting exercise, etc. At one point I thought that the problem was the stalk. Not the case. After further investigation I discovered that two of the vacuum hoses going to the vacuum servo were cracked. Also found that the solenoid valve below the vacuum servo was inoperative. Once the vacuum leaks and the solenoid replaced the cruise control worked.

Currently on the "General Chat" area there is a thread about cruise control vacuum canister. In the post is a photo of the cruise control servo, below there servo you will notice a "red" connector. That connector plugs into the solenoid that I mentioned earlier.
