Ok here is my delimma. I noticed a little detination over the summer when it was really hot from my 2.8 turbo. Im not runing a intercooler so i was thinking about water injection, but now with the colder weather and no detnation I thought bigger injectors and a megasquirt system would be the way to go. My question is how big can I go. I want something that will support my current 2.8 but also support a 3.4 liter pushing about 300-350HP for the future. How big should I go??? Dont want the thing to be super rich. Is 42lb to big?

300hp would be 37lb/hr injectors @ 43.5psi fuel pressure with turbo
350hp would be 44lb/hr injectors @ 43.5psi fuel pressure with turbo using the formula below...

Flow rate (lbs/hr) = Max Hp x BSFC / no. injectors x duty cycle

BSFC = 0.45 - 0.55 for naturally aspirated engines

0.55 - 0.65 for forced induction engines

I can get a good deal on 42lb injectors, but would that be two much fuel with a 2.8??? I'll be able a to control the fuel tables and fuel presure, 42lb still seems like alot. What do you guys think??

In the real world 350hp from a 3.4 home grown turbo would be a challenge in itself. I'm running 24lb injectors and so is Dennis but he's got a 3.4 turbo @ 300 hp so if it's good enough for him then it should work well for you.

Would 24lbs be ok on a 2.8 also, i still want to get ok gas mileage??? Also do you know if dennis is running a intercooler on his setup?

I found a small turbo with 8lbs boost ran best on 19lb injectors. I used the 5.0l Mustang ones. They are plentiful and cheap. Use an air/fuel guage to check if you are in the right range.

Yup, 19# should be good for 8-10psi.

300hp from a 3.4 is my goal at 10psi with 19# injectors and a lot of tuning.

One major factor that plays a role in your injector size is the lowest air/fuel ratio you intend to run. I have heard different opinions but very close to if not in the 12:1 range on wide open throttle seems to be where you want to side, so you will need injectors capable of maintaining that kind of ratio at the max boost level you intend to run, the stock wot ratio for the fiero is about 12:1 if I recall correctly and I believe that is partly a safety measure since there was no stock knock sensor installed, I have read however that it maybe a bit two low for optimal turbo performance given that two much and two little fuel can cause power loss and destruction. Whatever you side with, it will definately affect the required outflow of the injector

I would consider the injector range used on the Syclone and Typhoon which I don't believe requires an injector change to get into or just above the 300 hp range. In this area I don't believe considerable excess above what you really need will be a safe error because to large an injector may be difficult to control at low rpm and idle on a relatively small engine.

If you have a source to modify your chip, have them increase the amount of timing retard at the higher temperatures to avoid the detonation in the summer. If your current engine management is working well I would concentrate on using it and further optimizing it to reach the goals set as opposed to starting fresh with a new managment system, but that's my opinion.

I am also running 19 pound injectors on a 3.4 turbo set up (6 to 8 psi boost). IThe engine ininitially ran very rich and a lot of tuning was required to to get it right.

Dude - If you put in 42 lb. injectors you should buy one of those armored suits the Knights of the Round Table wore, or you'll be eating pieces of the engine block.
