OK car is an 85GT with a 4.9, 5spd swap.

Before anyone suggests grounds, I have made up not one, but 2 custom ground harnesses that interconnect.

Chassie, to Engine.
Engine to Battery
Chassie to Battery
Interior Chassie to Engine.

All are cleaned shiny.

I even have a direct wire from engine ground into the cabin bolted to the same stud as the ECM Ground.

Now here is my problem. Fire up car and read voltage at battery and Alternator, 14.4v that is great.

However interior is 13.2-13.4 even going as low as 12.8 at some times. Edited to add, I probed around inside the car with a volt meter, dash gauge, cigarettle lighter all read low in the 13's, I am not just going by the reading on the dash pod gauge.

I removed all the wires from the junction block/bolted eyelets. Thing. 2 studs, I cleaned all the wires, with a wire brush on my drill, then cleaned the studs. Put it back together it did not seem to help.

I made a jumper wire to go between the 2 studs thinking maybe there was an interior short or something was bad inside that block. That did not help.

What I want to do is fix the problem and if I have to as a last resort, make an attempt at a direct power lead to the interior of the car. (will have a large fuse 2" from battery for that lead.)

Any suggestions guys.

I don't know if this will be useful or not, but the red wire that feeds the "entire rest of the car" is attached to the junction block between the battery and shock tower. It's fed through a fuseable link into the big red wire that disappears under the right side sail.
I *believe* it makes a straight shot to the fuse block, although I'm not sure. Maybe you have a high resistance through the fuseable link.

Well I will check your suggestion tomorrow.

I did some wiring today on other stuff. (see thread about relay sockets)

While I was setting up the other stuff, I ran a hot lead from my 4 gauge AMP power which comes straight from the battery through my relay. The relay is hooked to a switched power under the dash. I ran power from the relay out to an always on 12v line under the dash in the chime box panel. So when I turn the car on, the relay kicks in and sends power from the 4 guage line to a hot lead under the dash.

It seemed to help the dash lights are brighter and the guage on the dash seems to be up where it is suppose to be.

So it looks like your guess is along the right lines of resistance maybe in the fusible link.

I am going to attach it in the AM.

I just re-did the 4 fuseable links that are under the C500 connector. wow this made a difference! but, mine were in pretty bad shape. one of the headlight ones had been cut & crimped, and the exposed wiring at the crimp was getting rotten, another one had a rip on the insulation, and again, rotted copper. I do beleive the main power to the interior is one of these 4. 2 of them are for the headlights (1 for each?), but I forget what the other 2 are - but I beleive one of them is interior power.
