This is a great tool but it is not for everybody. You need to know how to map and tune an engine. If you have that experience then you may be in heaven
Update: installed the wideband O2 during the weekend. Amazing, I can see now that it's running way to lean during warm-ups. Recalibrated to work with the Autometer A/F gauge to show wideband signal now

hey, Im glad to see that your using megasquirt. some people just dont understand the possibilities here, no need to send ur chips off to some guy! I am not that experienced with fuel maps but I am not in a hurry and I learn really quick. I am just beginning on the wiring( which is a cinch) and then tuning( much harder but possible). Let us know how it all goes! Later
------------------ Soon to be custom port fuel injected! 4.5l and th-440 And Im only 18. think about when Im 30!!

The only disadvantage I have seen thus far with megasquirt is that it can't yet support true SPFI, sequential port fuel injection. It can do batch fire or bank fire, so it works with most port fuel injection methods. All the newer engines are SPFI though Unless I am missing something reading about megasquirt. I'd really like to use it.

Not using Megasquirt yet, still building it but I did just install the wideband. I think just about anybody can learn how to program Megasquirt given the time to read everything at their website. Also there is a great forum there to help people out. My plan initially was to take my time and build this over the winter but I seem to be zipping along and by next week I should be testing it out on my car. Fun project!

...and this is better than a factory ecm because? I am curious, so please enlighten me. Thanks!
well, not having to burn a whole new chip everytime you want to re-program is a good thing. going to a dyno with a handful of chips, to see which works better, kinda sucks. alot nicer being able to do the run, make your changes, run again. and, as someone mentioned - wideband O2. I expect it can handle 2 Bar Map easily, knock sensor input & DIS also.
Been kinda lazy but getting back on it. I should have some pics of progress to post soon. Cost is pretty cheap but depends what you go for. U could go basic and build an ECU for $130 US. Or go all out like I did and spend $300 US.

WOW, thats cheap compared to most on the market today. Im getting one. Also what brand wideband O2 sensor did you use, that will interface with autometer gauges (part# would be great if you have it)?

I just noticed that you are assembling the Megasquirt on a solid, looks like oak dining room table? I would get shot for doing that. I'll let my wife sendthe next reply and yell at you. Ed

Thats my computer/hobby desk. Looks good but it's a durable fake finish. Wife approves, we have a deal. I stay out of her kitchen and she keeps away from the desk.
Update on the harness build, assign and solder
Mike.
