So, my wife takes the GT through a car wash which is very unusual to begin with because I always wash it myself.
Guy goes to take the antenna mast off and the male connector thread snaps off.
I have a parts car so I played around on that and pulled the antenna connector and wire assembly from it.

Here is the question:

Do I really have to replace the entire antenna wiring assembly and run it through the car? Is there a way to take the connector end off the good wire I have now and install it to the antenna wire that’s in my GT already?

I know now from removing it from the parts car that I need to remove the top four fender bolts to do the job. I am hoping I would not have to start pulling carpeting back and pulling the stereo out to run the replacement antenna to fix this.

Anybody ever deal with this one before?

Thanks for your help in advance!!

The answer is yes you'll need to disassemble the wheelhouse and replace the entire antenna base and mast, and also snake the wires back through. Running the wires is not difficult, but replacing the antenna base is a pain.

Dennis,

Somehow I knew that was going to be the anwser but I figured I would give it a shot and ask. Yeh, the four bolts on the top of the fender have to come out to snake it down the frame to get it under the dash.
Oh well, the pain of liking these cars....another hour of fun...

Thanks Jerry

just shave the antenna hole and get one of those you can put under the dash. makes things look so much nicer and smooth.

Thanks to all. I installed the same antenna off of my parts car. Took about 90 mins start to finish.
