Search function has not helped me out on this one, but how hard its it to go from a Th125 to the 4 or 5 speed muncie/isuzu, and which one do you recommend and why?

Thanks!!

Several folks here have done it.
I will also be doing it this winter.

IMHO, the easiest swap would be to whatever tranny was standared in the manual version of your particular car.
Having said that, most any Fiero tranny can be used in any Fiero.

It really all depends on your motor.
The Isuzu was never used with a V-6, but lots of people are using them with V6s. They seem to work especially well with 3.4 swaps, and are waaay cheaper than Getrags. Getrags are stronger, but are really overkill for a 4 cylinder engine.
4 speeds are fairly common, and will work with anything. Lots of people prefer the gear ratios/spacing of the 4 speed, anyway.

You will need to install the pedals, master cylinder and lines. I belive the lines are routed in pretty much the same location as the auto trans cooler lines.
You'll need different mounting brackets and axles. All manual Fiero axles are the same.
You'll need a shifter. All 5 speed shifters are interchangeable. All 4 speed shifters are interchangeable. They are not interchangeable with each other.
You will need the appropriate shift and select cables for your particular tranny. They are all different.
You'll need the appropriate slave cylinder for your particular tranny. Again, they are all different.
You'll need the correct flywheel for your engine. If you have an 88 V6 engine, get a flywheel for a 3.1 Beretta. It will work just fine and be much cheaper than the 88 specific flywheel.
You'll need to make some wiring changes. I haven't researched that yet, so I'm not sure what all will be needed.

I did this and best bet is to find a wrecked donor car, or a donor car with a bad engine. You will probably be able to buy a donor car cheaper than sourcing all the parts.

There are a lot of little parts you will need and there is something to be said about having every little odd nut and bolt right there at your disposal.

I converted an 85GT from auto to 4spd then 2 years later converted it from 4spd to 5spd with a 4.9.

I prefer the gearing on the Isuzu as to me it feels more evenly spaced than my old Muncie's.
