Well I'm now the proud owner of 2 Fieros! I picked up a nice little 85 GT V-6 this weekend. In looking over the engine I see that the detent cable is a bit frayed where it hooks to the transmission. I was looking through the Fiero store and they don't have a detent cable listed for my year. In fact, the ONLY detent cable I can find in there is listed under 1987 4cyl! I was going to swap my detent from MY 1986 4cyl (currently not running) but the cable is too short on the 4cyl model.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Have you tried a Pontiac dealership? If I remember correctly that is where I bought mine.
Occasionally you can find them on Ebay as well. (Just checked and none are listed today.)
